Help children identify and understand words with similar meanings using this Synonyms Center and Worksheets resource for first and second grade.

✏️ How to Use the Synonyms Center and Worksheets
Children read each word on the mat and use the picture clue to help them understand its meaning. They find the word card with the same or a similar meaning and place it in the empty box.
After completing the matching activity, children cut apart the words on the corresponding worksheet and glue each one beside its synonym.
The Synonyms Center and Worksheets can be used during literacy centers, small group instruction, partner activities, intervention, or independent vocabulary practice.
For an additional challenge, ask children to use one or both words from each synonym pair in a sentence.
