Back to School Kindergarten Worksheets and Activities No Prep

This book contains a collection of worksheets suitable for use with children in Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year.

Back to School Kindergarten Worksheets and Activities Contents:

1. Using glue (2 pages)
Children practice squeezing small amounts of glue on the dots. Once completed, they may sprinkle glitter over each glue spot, or attach some pre-cut paper shapes.

2. Cutting practice (4 pages)
Children color the pictures at the top of each page and then cut along the cutting lines. Once completed, they can fold up the cut-out section and have fun hiding/revealing the colored picture from the top of the page.

3. Alphabet worksheets with beginning sounds and writing practice (26 pages)
Each page displays formation for both upper and lower case letters. I have also included giant letters containing words that begin with the focus letter, to help children make letter-beginning sounds connections. (Please note that “x” also includes words that contain the letter as there are not enough examples that begin with it. )
Children are required to color the pictures; trace the upper/lower case letters and write them on the lines in the space provided, and finally, find the indicated letters hidden among others.

4. My Alphabet Coloring Book (14 pages)
Print the pages, cut them in half and staple together. Children use the color code on each page to color the picture.

5. Upper and lower case sorting – cut and paste
Children cut the upper and lower case letters from the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct column.

6. Letter and number sorting – cut and paste
Children cut the letters and numbers from the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct column.

7. Letter and number find
Children use the color code provided to color the numbers and letters in the grid.

8. Lower and upper case letter match (5 pages)
Children cut the lower case letter tiles and paste them next to their corresponding beginning sound picture and upper case letter.

9. Upper and lower case letter write – a “Spin It!” activity (13 pages)
Cut the page in half along the dashed line and provide each child with a copy. Children will need a paper clip and a pencil to make the “spinner” needed to complete the activity: the pencil is pushed through the paper clip (ensuring the clip will not fall off) and must be spun on the inner-circle, located between the upper and lower case letters at the top of each page. Each time the “spinner” stops, they record the spin (starting from the bottom of the page) by tracing either the upper or lower case letter on the page.
The aim is to see which letter case will make it to the top first!

10. Same beginning sounds
Children say the name of the two pictures in each box and listen for the beginning sounds. If the pictures start with the same sound, children will color the happy face; if they don’t, children will color the sad face.

11. Beginning sounds (3 pages)
Children determine the beginning sound for each picture and color a circle to show their answer.

12. Write the missing beginning sound
Children determine the beginning sound for each picture and write the correct letter in the empty square.

13. School Build-a-Word vocabulary booklet (8 pages)
Assembly is required by cutting each page in half, then stapling together on the left side where indicated. Make sure NOT to cut off the section with the letter tiles! (Children need that section to build the word on the page.) Children trace the word on the page, build it using the letter tiles and then color the picture.

14. Number sense practice pages (10 pages)
Children color the objects on the page, trace the number and number word and then find it among other numbers at the bottom of the page.

15. Number match (2 pages)
Children cut the dot-tiles and paste them next to their corresponding number.

16. Cut and paste numbers (2 pages)
Children cut the numbers from the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct spot to complete the number order.

17. How many are there? (2 pages)
Children count the number of objects in each box and show how many were counted by coloring the correct circle. Dot markers can be used for this worksheet.

18. Colors coloring page (12 pages)
Children color the different pictures and then trace the color word at the bottom of the page.

19. Colors Build-a-Word vocabulary booklet (7 pages)
Assembly is required by cutting each page in half, then stapling together on the left side where indicated. Make sure NOT to cut off the section with the letter tiles! (Children need that section to build the word on the page.) Children trace the word on the page, build it using the letter tiles and then color the picture.

20. Cut and paste missing numbers
Children cut the numbers from the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct spot to complete the number order.

21. Back to school count and graph (2 pages)
Children count each of the objects that are the same and complete the graph to show their findings.

22. Patterns (AB)
Children determine the pattern, then cut and paste the pictures from the bottom of the page in the correct spot to finish each pattern.

22. Shapes and shadows (3 pages)
Children cut the pictures from the bottom of the page and paste them on the correct shadow.

23. What doesn’t belong?
Children identify which of 4 pictures in each row does not belong.

24. Which has more?
Children determine which group of objects has more.

25. Which is biggest?
Children determine the biggest object from each row.

26. Days of the week order
Children cut and paste the days of the week in the correct order.
