The FREE Thanksgiving Turkey Feather Counting Activity is intended for use in centers and small groups with children in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten.
Contents and Directions for use
The aim of this center activity is for children to identify the numeral on the turkey, count out the corresponding number of feathers and clip/attach them to the turkey. A recording page is also included, asking children to draw the number of feathers as shown on each turkey.
There are multiple ways to use this activity.
- A. Clothes pegs: print out only the turkey bodies. Laminate them and cut them out. Supply children with clothes pegs to clip around the shape of the turkey.
- B. Feathers with magnets: print out the turkey bodies and feather. Laminate them and cut them out. Attach adhesive magnets to the back of the turkeys and to the front of the feathers. Children attach the feathers onto the magnets on the back of the turkey body.
- C. Pipe cleaners: print out only the turkey bodies. Laminate them and cut them out. Make holes with a hole punch around each turkey body (for young children, make only the number of the holes shown on the turkey). Supply children with colored pipe cleaners to thread through the holes. Alternatively, you could use ribbons or yarn.
Happy Teaching 🙂
