Groundhog Day Preschool Worksheets and Activities No Prep

The Groundhog Day worksheets and activities packet contains a collection of 15 worksheets suitable for use with children in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten.

Groundhog Day Fine Motor & Literacy Worksheets and Activities:

1. Groundhog picture tracing (1 page)

   Children trace the dashed lines on the page to complete the picture and then colour it.

2. Groundhog maze (1 page)

   Children make their way through the maze, starting at the arrow.

3. Groundhog weather alphabet tracing (2 pages)

   Children trace the letters on the page, and colour the pictures.

4. Groundhog upper and lower case cut and paste letter match (5 pages)

   Children cut out the letters from the bottom of the page and paste them in the semi-circle beside the letter.

5. Groundhog beginning sounds cut and paste (5 pages)

   Children cut out the pictures from the bottom of the page and paste them on top of the corresponding letter.

6. Groundhog coloring (1 page)

   Children color the objects on the page as directed, then color the rest of the picture as they wish.

7. “Groundhog Day” reader (color and B&W) & comprehension sheet

   Assembly is required by cutting each page in half, then stapling together on the left side where indicated. I have also included a colored version that teachers can use and keep in the classroom library.
   There are 2 comprehension sheets: one with pictures to indicate which page children can find the answer, and another without pictures.

8. Groundhog build a sentence (1 page)

   Children cut out the words from the bottom of the page and arrange them in order to make a 4-word sentence.

Groundhog Day Math Worksheets and Activities:

1. Groundhog shadow match (1 page)

   Children cut out the pictures from the bottom of the page and paste them on top the matching shadow.

2. Groundhog shapes cut and paste (2 pages)

   Children cut out the groundhog body and head shapes from the bottom of the page and paste them next to the matching shapes.

3. Groundhog numbers cut and paste (2 pages)

   Children cut out the numbers from the side of the page and paste them next to the picture that shows the corresponding number.

4. Groundhog write the missing numbers (1page)

   Children trace the numbers and then write the missing numbers in the empty boxes.

5. Groundhog count and graph to 5 (1 page)

   Children count and graph the pictures.

6. Season sorting – winter and spring (1 page)

   Children cut out the pictures from the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct category to show whether the objects are used in the winter or the spring.

7. Groundhog Day weather report (1 page)

   Children write the date where indicated. They then colour the box that shows the weather for today and draw clothes on the stick figure to show the way the dressed for the day. Last, children color “yes” or “no” to show whether the groundhog had seen its shadow.
