The Superhero Center Activities for Preschool is a digital download that contains a collection of 20 printable pirate math and literacy activities intended for use in centers and small groups with children in Preschool and Kindergarten.
Superhero Activities for Preschool: Fine Motor & Literacy Activities
Following is an outline of the activities included in this unit and suggestions for preparation and use.
- Superhero Fine Motor Practice Mats (5 Mats)
- Preparation: Print and laminate for durability. Supply children with pom-poms, gems, buttons, beads, beans, or other small objects that fit inside the circles.
- Activity: Children place a small object in each circle.
- Superhero Pre-Writing Tracing Practice (9 Cards)
- Preparation: Print and laminate for durability. Keep cards together by hole-punching the top left corner and securing with a key ring or pipe cleaner.
- Activity: Children trace the lines with a whiteboard (dry-erase) marker, starting on the left and moving to the right.
- Other Ideas: Trace paths with play dough, pipe cleaners, yarn, or sequins.
- Superhero Alphabet Tracing Practice – Upper and Lower Case
- Preparation: Print and laminate for durability. Hole-punch the top left corner and secure cards with a key ring or pipe cleaner.
- Activity: Children trace the letters with a whiteboard (dry-erase) marker, following directional arrows.
- Other Ideas: Trace letters with play dough, pipe cleaners, yarn, or sequins; use cards for sand tray writing.
- Superhero Alphabet Match
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces.
- Activity: Children match upper and lower case letters.
- Superhero Beginning Sounds Match
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces and provide children with clothes pegs.
- Activity: Children clip a peg on the two pictures that start with the focus sound.
- Superhero Rhyming Match (30 Cards)
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces.
- Activity: Children match the two pictures that rhyme.
- Superhero CVC Read & Cover
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces. Attach transparent Velcro to each card (optional).
- Activity: Children read a word on the mat and cover it with the matching picture.
- Superhero Sight Word Match (40 Pre-Primer Sight Words Cards)
- Preparation: Print, laminate, and cut out the cards. Attach transparent Velcro to each card (optional).
- Activity: Children find the matching sight word and place it on the board.
Superhero Center Activities for Preschool: Math Activities

- City Tower Counting 1-10
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Supply children with counting cubes.
- Activity: Children build the city by placing towers built from the correct number of cubes shown on the map.
- Superhero Number Sense 1-10
- Preparation: Print, laminate, and cut out the cards. Attach transparent Velcro to each card (optional).
- Activity: Children identify and match all the number representations to the correct board.
- Superhero Sorting by Size: Small, Medium, Large
- Preparation: Print and laminate the page for durability. Cut out all pieces. Attach transparent Velcro to the objects (optional).
- Activity: Children determine the size of each item and sort it to the corresponding mat.
- Superhero Shape Match (9 Shapes)
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out the cards. Provide children with clothes pegs.
- Activity: Children clip a peg on the matching shape.
- Superhero Color Match (11 Colors)
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces. Provide children with clothes pegs.
- Activity: Children clip a peg on the two pictures that contain the focus color.
- Which Picture is Different? Superhero Theme (4 Cards)
- Preparation: Print, laminate for durability, and cut apart the cards. Provide children with clothes pegs or paper clips.
- Activity: Children clip a peg on the picture that is different.

- Activity: Children clip a peg on the picture that doesn’t belong.
- Sorting Super People and Super Animals
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces.
- Activity: Children identify and sort all the items to the correct mats.
- Superhero Helping Sequencing Cards (4-Part Sequencing)
- Preparation: Print, laminate for durability, and cut apart the cards. Attach Velcro to the back of each picture and box (optional).
- Activity: Children order the cards to show the sequence of the superhero helping a boy.
- Superhero AB Patterns (5 Cards)
- Preparation: Print, laminate for durability, and cut apart the cards. Attach the pictures cut out from the bottom of the page to the end of a clothes peg/pin using a hot glue gun or use Velcro.
- Activity: Children identify the pattern on the cards and clip the correct picture in the empty box to complete the pattern.
- Superhero Shadow Matching (12 Card Pairs)
- Preparation: Print and laminate pages for durability. Cut out all pieces.
- Activity: Children match the pictures to their shadows.
