Sight Words Center: Pre-Primer Word Find
The Sight Words Center: Pre-Primer Word Find book contains 40 engaging word find pages designed for children in Preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1. Each worksheet focuses on one pre-primer sight word, helping young learners enhance their reading skills.
Directions for Use:
Children beginning to read often find common word find worksheets challenging, even with a simple 4×4 grid with only 4 words to find. To address this, I have designed these worksheets to help children search for the whole word while focusing on letter sequence.
Each worksheet features one sight word written in large text in the center of the page. Children search for this word among other sight words from the pre-primer list, reinforcing their recognition of the focus word and familiarizing them with additional sight words. Once children find all instances of the word, they count and write the total in the circle at the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
Flexible Learning:
These worksheets do not include preset instructions, allowing you to tailor activities to your child’s needs. Here are a few ideas:
- Rainbow Tracing: Have children trace the focus word in different colors for extra practice.
- Coloring: Let children color the focus word in the middle.
- Shape Drawing: Encourage children to draw specific shapes around each word instead of simply circling them.
- Color Coding: Use different colors to highlight the words.
- Dot-Paints (Bingo Daubers): Add a fun element by using dot-paints to identify the words.
With these versatile worksheets, you can create a personalized learning experience that keeps children engaged and motivated.
