December Morning Tubs Fine Motor and Cutting Practice:

  1. Christmas picture punch cards (5 cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: hole puncher. To prepare the punch cards for use, print and then cut along the dashed lines. Using a hole puncher, children are required to punch out the indicated picture.
  2. Christmas cutting practice (8 cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: scissors. To prepare the activity for use, print (on colored paper) and then cut along the dashed lines. Using a pair of scissors, children are required to cut along the dashed lines.

December Worksheets:

  1. Christmas dab the mystery picture (5 pages) SUPPLIES NEEDED: dot markers or differently colored round stickers. To prepare the activity for use print the pages you wish to use. Using the indicated colored dot markers, children dab the circles to reveal the hidden picture. Alternatively, children can use differently colored round stickers.
  2. Christmas cotton swab dot painting pictures (5 pages) SUPPLIES NEEDED: q-tips/cotton swabs and poster paint. To prepare the activity for use, print the pages you wish to use. Children dip the end of the q-tip/cotton swab into some paint and then fill in the small dots of the picture and the word at the bottom of the page.
  3. Christmas pokey pin/pinning pictures (5 pages) SUPPLIES NEEDED: large push pins, thick foam mat to place under the pinning page, colored paper (optional). To prepare the activity for use, print the pages you wish to use. Children place the foam mat on the table. Next, they place the colored paper on top of the foam and the activity page on the very top. Children then use the large push pin to make holes in the paper where indicated.
  4. Christmas sequence and trace the picture (5 pages) SUPPLIES NEEDED: scissors, glue stick, pencil, colored pencils. To prepare the activity for use, print the pages you wish to use. Children begin by cutting out the pictures at the bottom of the page and then glue them to show the drawing sequence. Next, children trace the image and color it in.

December Morning Tubs Task Cards:

  1. Christmas lacing cards (5 cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: shoelace or lacing thread. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability and then cut out each shape. Using a hole punch, punch out the holes where indicated. Children are required to thread the shoelace through the holes.
  2. Christmas patterns (5 cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: beads, pipe cleaners. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability and then cut them apart. Children copy the pattern on the card by threading the beads onto a pipe cleaner.
  3. Christmas mazes (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: erasable markers, wiping cloth or small beads. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. The aim of this activity is for children to trace the path through the maze using an erasable marker. Alternatively, children can use small beads or buttons to show the path through the maze.
  4. Christmas missing color pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: small colored objects such as pom-poms, beads or sequins, fine motor tweezers (optional). To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. Children collect the required colored small objects and then use them to cover the blank circles. For an added challenge, ask children to use tweezers to place the small object in the correct place.
  5. Christmas play dough pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: play dough. To prepare the activity for use, print and laminate the pages for durability. Children get the required colors and then roll out the playdough into rolls (”snakes”) and use them to shape out the indicated picture.
  6. Christmas building brick pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: 20×20 brick base (preferable transparent), building bricks of various sizes. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. Children collect the required pieces and then assemble them as shown on the activity card to build the picture.
  7. Christmas counting cube pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: counting cubes (such as snap cubes or Unifix cubes). To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. Children collect the required pieces and then assemble them as shown on the activity card to make the picture.
  8. Christmas pattern block pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: pattern blocks. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. Children collect the required pieces and then assemble them as shown on the activity card to make the picture.
  9. Christmas pom-pom pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: large pom-poms or buttons. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. Children collect the required colored pom-poms and then assemble them as shown on the activity card to make the picture. For extra stability, you can glue the pom-poms onto small magnets and place the activity card on a magnetic surface.
  10. Christmas geoboard pictures (5 activity cards) SUPPLIES NEEDED: 5X5 geoboard base, colored elastic bands. To prepare the cards for use, print and laminate them for durability. Children collect the required colored elastic bands and then assemble them as shown on the activity card to make the picture.
