The Alphabet Match Firefighter Community Helper activity is a fun, hands-on way for preschool and kindergarten children to practice matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Children match lowercase water droplets to uppercase fires as they pretend to “put out” each fire! ✨ What’s Included in the Alphabet Match Firefighter Community Helper Set

• Fire Cards: Each fire displays an uppercase letter.
• Water Droplet Cards: Each water droplet displays a lowercase letter to match with the corresponding fire.

✏️ How to Use the Firefighter Alphabet Match Activity

1. Print and Prepare: Print the pages on cardstock and laminate for durability. Cut out the fire and water droplet pieces.
2. Set Up: Spread the fire cards on a table and place the water droplets nearby.
3. Match the Letters: Children choose a water droplet, identify the lowercase letter, and place it with the fire showing the matching uppercase letter. Encourage children to name the letters as they make each match.

Differentiate the activity: Start with a small selection of letter pairs, then add more as children become confident.

Use the cards in literacy centers, morning tubs, or small groups. Children can also work independently once they are familiar with the matching task.

💡 More Ways to Play

• Memory Match: Place a small selection of fire cards face down on one side and their matching water droplets face down on the other. Children turn over one of each to look for an uppercase and lowercase letter pair.
• Alphabetical Order: Arrange the fire cards or water droplets from A to Z, then add the matching letters alongside them.
• Build Names and Words: Use the cards to build children’s names or familiar words. Provide a written model for children to follow, and print extra copies when repeated letters are needed.
